I have a long and varied career in IT starting as a field hardware engineer and progressed to my current position, I feel this has put me in good position to analyse problems and rectify faults, I believe I am a good team player and have always been more than willing to help out my colleagues. I am looking for a challenging position that would help me develop and extend my experience as I am always eager to learn new skills.
I am currently studying for an MCSA and then I plan to study for a CCNA as I have some basic Cisco IOS and Pix firewall knowledge, I am also very happy to work on server hardware (fix and installs) as it allows me to keep current with hardware advances.

Duties
To Support and Build the Banks Wintel Servers (4500)
I am responsible for building and supporting the Banks Wintel servers, we use a combination of Altiris and scripted DVD builds to accomplish this, we then have to quality check the build and support it until go live time.
The servers are primarily Windows 2003 ( Standard and Enterprise), we also have a number of Clusters ( same site or split across sites), they mainly run SQL 2000 or SQL 2005 and some of them run IIS (v6), I also provide 3 rd line support on aspects of the servers.
We use a variety of hardware including but not limited to HP DL380 /580, Dell 2950 & 6950 & IBM X3850 & X6850 these can be with either Intel or AMD processors and may have external SAN storage via Emulex Fibre cards.
The Operating systems we use are Windows Server 2000 (Standard and Advanced), 2003 in standard or enterprise and can be either 32 or 64 Bit, we also build Windows servers VMWare ESX servers as well.
We have a number of BL30 / BL35 Blade servers, I was also the teams hardware specialist taking on all our hardware problems or installs in order to help my colleagues with their builds where necessary, The estate is currently around 4500-500 servers.
We liaised with many other teams to manage the whole server installation procedure ensuring that company standards are adhered to.
We had access to 3 secure data centres.

Technical Team Leader 3 rd Line (Security Biased) (Wintel Platforms)
Duties
To Provide support on the Departments Server infrastructure 330 servers & 6000 users across the country.
I was responsible for providing support on all the departments’ servers as needed as well as monitoring their performance, these duties include patching and the security side of the Lan support team.
I was also responsible for the Designing, Implementing and day to day management of the SMS infrastructure and deploying apps / patches as required, also designing and testing the SMS DR procedures, I was also specifically responsible for Designing, Implementing and managing MOM, Symantec Antivirus infrastructure, ISA Servers, Websense servers, Languard and various other security, antivirus and patch management tools all of these activities are performed to strict change management procedures conforming to ITIL standards.
I was also responsible for the Designing, Implementing, management and configuration and hardware installation of our test environments, I am also responsible for performing testing of new applications, patches and services packs prior to implementation on the live LAN.
I am also responsible for managing, designing and implementing a new SAV infrastructure for our site and 2 other sites.
We run mainly Dell and Unisys servers, I am currently virtualising the majority of my test lan and some of our older servers using VMWare to increase reliability and release out of date hardware.
We are in the process of performing an infrastructure refresh, and I have been involved in implementing the migrating to an Active Directory infrastructure from our current NT4 infrastructure and currently run both in tandem.
I am technical team lead of the Network Integrity team (4.5 people) and primary contact for all security related problems and queries this includes patching servers, running the ISA & Websense servers and ensuring the integrity of the network.

Duties
To provide support to the companies staff
I was responsible for providing support and installation of the company’s servers and providing support to the desktop team, the servers are mainly HP / Compaq with some Dell servers, desktops are NT4 and XP with Office 97 or Office XP on a mixture of Dell and Compaq (HP) hardware.
We run MS Outlook, Citrix, Norton Antivirus and a number of applications for the Insurance industry, I was also responsible for building new servers and developing the desktop build and instigating procedures for ghosting new desktops when they came in.
I also support 5 regional offices who ran Citrix, we also trial ran a number of Citrix terminals with varying levels of success.

During this time I worked at a variety of companies, including the Ministry of Defence, serving a four year apprenticeship in electrical and electronics engineering (EQD Aquila in Bickley, Kent). Also a number of companies providing hardware installation & support (approx. 6 years) and on site software support (approx. 9 years), some of these companies include AMP (3 rd line support 4 Years), Lehman Brothers (trade floor support 2 years), BP oil (desktop support), StatOil (1 st -3 rd line), Hackney borough council (desktop support), BBC (2 nd /3 rd line support), INTEL (Field service engineer on their products), Data Logic (field service Engineer) and Specialist Computer Centre (Field Service Engineer), many of these roles required security clearance of various levels.
In a number of these roles I have performed a team leader role and this included mentoring junior staff as well as liaising with other teams in the performance of mine and my teams duties.
