Saturday is Armed Forces Day, a day inwhich President Harry S. Truman led the effort to establish as a means for citizens to come together and thank ourmilitary members for their patriotic service in support of our country. On Aug. 31, 1949, Secretary of Defense LouisJohnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day to replace separate Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air ForceDays. The single day celebration stemmed from the unification of the Armed Forces under the Department of Defense.Armed Forces Day is celebrated annually on the third Saturday of May.Barracks Bash 2013 - Tonight (May 17), 6 - 8 p.m. All Single Sailors and GEO Bachelors are invited!
