European Hockey Federation Development Co-ordination Committee 2010-12 <ul><li>By supporting the development and training more and better active coaches </li></ul><ul><li>70+ coaches have attended Continental High Level seminars staged by EHF CC in 2010/11 </li></ul><ul><li>14 National Association seminars will have been conducted by EHF expert conductors – approx 300 local coaches trained </li></ul>EHL Easter 2011

  13. 13. Current Projects 2 <ul><li>Support for European Women FIH umpires </li></ul><ul><li>Leader: Margaret Hunnaball </li></ul><ul><li>Goal: To help with the development of the next generation of EHF international umpires (complementary to FIH projects like Road to London) </li></ul>
  14. 14. Train the trainers <ul><li>November 2010: Vienna worshop led by R. O’Connor and S. Bresciani </li></ul><ul><li>New concept: NAs provided with ideas and resources to create their own national programme to coach umpires/develop umpiring </li></ul><ul><li>Working in partnership between EHF and NAs: Development grants awarded to projects in Switzerland , Slovakia . First steps in Slovenia. </li></ul>

Why support UDP <ul><li>Widespread participation: 24 NAs have taken part: </li></ul><ul><li>18 Young European umpires have graduated (+8 this year) </li></ul><ul><li>Most UDP umpires have become FIH international umpires and have been making progress in the different categories (up to G1 so far with some ready to reach WDP) </li></ul><ul><li>Appointments to top EHF and FIH tournaments (also to the Youth Olympic Games 2010) </li></ul><ul><li>Positive performance reports: good standard of umpiring </li></ul><ul><li>Presence in the Road to London FIH programme </li></ul>

Conclusion <ul><li>UDP has made a massive difference to the individuals that completed the UDP. </li></ul><ul><li>We have seen UDP Umpires at the Youth Olympics, Indoor World Cup and we will see two graduates in action here at the European Championships. </li></ul><ul><li>Please continue to support the UDP; to identify, encourage and support individuals to reach their potential as great umpires. </li></ul>
