Itis the duty of the principal to be sure that all the proper pieces and people are in place tointroduce new technologies to his or her staff and that an adequate support system exists toguide them through any problems or issues they may encounter during the initial period ofchange. In addition to staff, the principal must make sure that the technology is readily availableand accessible to students. They should have ample opportunities to utilize the programs aswell as provide their opinions about the technology’s effectiveness, ease of use, and otherpertinent comments. The principal must also be in constant contact with the CampusImprovement Team and the Site Based Decision Making committee to analyze feedback andresults that will help to evaluate whether or not the technology is bringing about the desiredoutcomes.Week 4 Assignment, Part 2: Professional Development PlanningUsing the campus and district improvement plans, and any suggested technologyimprovements, develop professional development activities that include the following:• Reference analysis and lessons learned about the technology needs from the Week 3 report;• Addresses professional development designed to improve the gathering, analysis and use of data from a variety of sources;• Includes professional development to improve decision making in the integration of technology with instructional and organizational leadership. • 13. EDLD 5352 Instructional Leadership: The Technology LinkWeek 4 Assignment, Part 3: Evaluation Planning for Action PlanThe technology action plan integrating instructional an organizational leadership must includeevaluation components that provide measurable outcomes designed to address the following:• Uses data and other analysis from the Week 3 report, including using the campus and district improvement plans, and local or state technology plans;• Provides assessments and/or monitoring reports measuring professional development designed to use technology to improve the gathering, analysis and use of data from a variety of sources;• Provides assessments and/or monitoring evaluating professional development to improve decision making in the integration of technology with instructional and organizational leadership.EvaluationThe action plan to be implemented during our August 18, 2011 staff development session willbe evaluated for success and improvement using a number of data sources. The campusprincipal, along with department heads and members of the Campus Improvement Team andSite-Based Decision Making committee will compare subject area grades for students beforeand after technology implementation, as well as analyzing standardized test scores both beforeand after the implementation. Reviewers will also take into account the notes made byadministrators during classroom walkthroughs and observation periods. These results will bemeasured against the cost of maintaining the technologies on campuses. Obviously if a highlevel of student achievement reached as a result of the technologies being used, the currentsystems will remain in place. If we are, however, still lacking in any particular areas, thosetechnologies will be revisited and either revised for improvement or replaced with anothermethod to improve student performance.Page 13 – Revised October 2009
