    • Math 113 Syllabus Instructor: Zoe Vangelatos (Email: zvangelatos100@qc.cuny.edu) Course Name: Ideas in Mathematics Textbook: Using & Understanding Mathematics, 5th Edition, by Jeffrey Bennett and William Briggs Office Hours: After Class Office Location: Kiely 237 (Math Department) Math Office #: (718) 997 - 5800 PREREQUISITE: Two and one-half years of high school mathematics including intermediate algebra. OBJECTIVE OF COURSE: To provide students with an appreciation of the character and significance of ideas, methods, and real world applications of mathematics employed in the sciences, the arts, politics, and in business. GRADING You will be required to take three exams and a final. There will be NO make up exams. You will have the option of dropping your lowest exam grade. There will be review lectures the day before each exam and they will be run by YOU! The Final Exam is CUMMULATIVE and the exam day is pending. Cell phones are not allowed to be used as calculators on the tests neither on the final exam.
