Augmented Reality in Our Life - History<br />1968-The first augmented reality system created by Ivan <br />Sutherland.<br />1992 - The term "augmented reality“ is coined. <br />1992 - IBM and Bellsouth introduce the first smartphone.<br />1993 -The GPS (official name "NAVSTAR-GPS") achieves initial <br />operational capability.<br />1996 -Jun Rekimoto presents 2D matrix markers (square-shaped <br />barcodes), one of the first marker systems to allow camera tracking <br />with six degrees of freedom.<br />1997 -The camera phone is invented, a mobile phone which is able <br />to capture still photographs.<br />1999 -ARToolKit is created, a pose tracking library with six degrees <br />of freedom.<br />2003 -The first commercial mobile phone AR camera game <br />Mozzies.<br />2004 - The first system for tracking 3D markers on a mobile phone.<br />2008 -Wikitude, is launched – an application that combines GPS <br />and compass data with Wikipedia entries. <br />2009 -Layer is launched. <br />
