  2. 2. • I wanted to make my Mobile Family ScienceLaboratory sustainable• Less dependent on grant applicationsWhy did I want to do this?
  3. 3. • I had an activity, ‘Become a DNA Detective and Break the Code’which had potential to be developed into an educational product.• I investigated potential biotechnology education companies whomight be interested and looked at their product ranges.
  4. 4. • One company, Edvotek, seemed suitable. They offered a rangeof both dry and wet laboratory activities for schools.• I made an initial contact with the company• With the aid of UEA’s Research and Enterprise Office, weentered into negotiation with Edvotek.
  5. 5. • I developed the product further;• wrote the accompanying educational material• costed the product per unit• obtained permission from our funders The Wellcome Trust• sent a product sample• The license was signed
