    Born- Plonsk, Poland
    Born into a family steeped in Zionism

    Ezra- youth group
    Joined Poaeli Zion
    Laborer in the orange groves and wine cellars
  • 4. Contributing to Zionism
    Began his contribution to Zionism when he joined Poalei Zion
    Editorial Staff of the party newspaper in Jerusalem
    Studied at the University of Istanbul in hopes of creating ties with the Ottoman people
    Devoted 2 years to create and “American Wing” to labor Zionism
    Elected secretary-general of the Histadrut
  • 5. Contributing to Zionism
    Formed a “workers society” (hevratovdim)
    Mapai- political party that guided Israel in the first few decades of statehood.
    Was appointed chairman of the Jewish Agency Executive
    Involved in the Baltimore Program
    The start of Ben Gurion’s activist line occurred

    Remained an influential figure in the 1960’s
    Was the first prime minister of Israel (1948–53, 1955–63)
    defense minister (1948–53; 1955–63) of Israel
    Resigned and settled in kibbutz SdeBoker for 2 years
    After those 2 years, Ben Gurion became prime minister again
    1963, he resigned from his governmental position again

    Later on, returned to the U.S. to finish college
    1971- graduated from university and returned to Israel

    Formed the anti- terror institution
    Took position as Deputy Chief of Mission
    1984-1988 Netanyahu served as the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations
    Was elected to the 12th Knesset- 1988
    Served as Israel’s principal representative in the international arena
    1991- served as senior member of the Israeli delegation

    1993- Likud party chairman
    1996- elected 9th Prime Minister of Israel
    After second term, he was a business consultant and a popular speaker
    2002- returned to politics
    2009- became Prime Minister of Israel’s 18th Knesset
