  • 3. Client: GDA Technologies Provided onsite support for GDA Technologies while current Systems Administrator traveled back to India for visa issues for an extended period of time. The network infrastructure was a mix of Unix, Solaris, Linux, Windows 2003, Windows 2000 and Windows XP supporting roughly 80 engineers in an ASIC/EDA development environment. Aside from the typical break/fix problem resolutions, I also provided a complete network infrastructure assessment along with recommendations for improving network monitoring, reducing system downtime, and automation of certain manual job functions. Client: Finnovative, Inc. Utilizing my experience in both Windows and Solaris based systems I assisted Finnovative with a complex migration for a confidential investment firm while managing the day to day needs of Finnovative’s development team and client base. The technologies involved included Windows 2003/Active Directory, MS Exchange 2003, Informix 9 on Solaris, Global Investment Manager on Solaris, ISA Server, Veritas Backup Exec, Symantec Anti-virus Corporate Edition and Unix shell scripting. Client: FitMe.Com Provided Information Technology and network consulting services for the existing collocation and corporate office infrastructure. Performed a security audit of all network services, deployed several SonicWALL Firewalls and applied the appropriate patches/upgrades as needed to multiple servers. Implemented a VPN solution for remote employees located in India, Chicago and the SF Bay Area. Installed and configured Solaris, Oracle and Broadvision on both development and production Sun Netra servers. Client: Database Marketing Solutions Upgraded all servers to Windows 2000 and implemented Active Directory. Implemented a tape backup system using Veritas Backup Exec. Client: Compendica, LLC Provided Information Technology and network consulting to a ground floor startup developing complementary hand-held applications for the Medical Industry. Responsibilities included managing all corporate network services, product development systems, and production Point-of- Sale/credit card processing servers via the Internet. Assisted in product development as it relates to application security, preventing unauthorized distribution of the application, and implemented secure credit card processing from the corporate website. Client: (Arena Solutions) Responsible for assessing, implementing and documenting the Information Technology needs for BOM.COM as an Application Service Provider (ASP) specializing in Bill of Materials collaboration over the Internet. Acquired, configured, and implemented a fully redundant High Availability solution for the BOM.COM product/website. This project included fully redundant Cisco routers, Cisco PIX firewalls, Alteon Load-Balancing switches, Linux webservers running AOLServer on Linux, Sun Solaris servers running Oracle 8i, Network Appliance File Servers and Veritas NetBackup for disaster recovery. Migrated's internal network from Windows NT to Windows 2000 and implemented a VPN solution for remote employees located in the SF Bay Area, Denver, and India.
  • 4. Nov 2002 – Nov 2003 uRoam, Inc. (acquired by F5 Networks July 2003) Sunnyvale, CA WWW: Manager, Information Technology Performed triage for the entire mixed Windows/Linux/Solaris network with a tight IT budget utilizing the existing hardware available. Reconfigured all security devices and performed an intense security audit within the first 30 day of employment. Segregated the development and QA labs from the internal production network drastically reducing network downtime and resource outages. Replaced the existing IPSEC & PPTP VPN solution with uRoam’s FirePass SSL-VPN solution for corporate remote access. Implemented a thorough disaster recovery procedure for all corporate network services including Microsoft Exchange, CVS, linux/windows file shares, internal webservers and MySQL. Handled all FirePass manufacturing and shipping/receiving responsibilities for the FirePass product line. Developed an automated manufacturing process for loading and configuring FirePass servers. As a result of this process uRoam was able to reduce the manufacturing process from a 1 hour manual procedure for a single server to a multi-server automated process averaging 3-min per server. Managed all vendor relationships that related to Information Technology, FirePass manufacturing and shipping/receiving. Worked with the joint acquisition team to document, consolidate and transfer all intellectual property and network services related to the asset sale to F5 Networks. F5 Networks, Inc. San Jose, CA WWW: Network Engineer Assisted in the migration process of all IT productions systems and intellectual property to F5’s headquarters located in Seattle. Deployed new Windows 2000 domain controller, file servers and development CVS/documentation servers to new Dell hardware as per F5’s corporate standards. Moved the company to a new office location within the first 60 days of the asset sale. Worked with several vendors to complete the documentation efforts for F5’s Silicon Valley satellite office. Migrated all former uRoam employee workstations to new computers ensuring software compliance. Documented and trained F5’s manufacturing department on the specific FirePass manufacturing process. Upgraded existing firewall, switches and remote access devices as per F5’s corporate standards. Aug 1999 – Oct 2000 ePocrates, Inc. San Mateo, CA WWW: Manager, Information Technology Responsible for building a garage based startup working from the cofounder’s home to a full service IT infrastructure and Help Desk organization as an established company. Worked in a hands-on capacity performing typical Network Administrative functions while managing a team of 4 system administrators and 3 contractors to build & maintain the 24x7 collocation environment, corporate network services and help desk support. Due to my early involvement with the company I provided additional support beyond the typical nature of an IT Manager including but not limited to the following areas; IT Department Head, Network Architecture, Telephony, Help Desk, Technical Training (for Customers, Marketing & Tech Support), Operations/Facilities, Purchasing & coordinating each office move.   • 5. July 1998 – Aug 1999 Edify Corporation Santa Clara, CA WWW: Web Developer Primary responsibilities include developing, administering and promoting the Edify corporate website. Redesigned and reorganized the Sales and Marketing Intranet/Extranet. Developed processes for adding to, updating and removing content from websites. Developed web applications using Allaire's Cold Fusion, PHP, ASP and other web technologies to simplify various business processes. Implemented IP level security, as well as securing Windows NT/IIS web server; after participating in a Network Security audit. Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP, IIS 3.0 & 4.0, Index Server, SSL, web browser issues, dynamic web content (web/database integration), and Windows NT troubleshooting/maintenance. Position was roughly 70% web development & 30% Server Administration. May 1996 – July 1998 Plustek USA, Inc. San Jose, CA WWW: Network Administrator Implemented, administered and documented all Internet and Corporate network security, T-1 internet connections, Webserver, Email, FTP and Proxy servers supporting 50+ users and 70+ workstations. Solved all computer and network problems relating to Help Desk requests, upgraded computer hardware and software as necessary. Developed a Q&A lab, created over 350 technical documents and eventually organized this data into a Technical Support Intranet for TSE training and standardized approaches to customer solutions. Eventually this work lead to a series of promotions as the Webmaster and Network Administrator within Plustek.
