  • 8. License Options (US/Canada) • Media Pack • License + 1 Year Gold Maintenance • Upgrade + 1 Year Gold Maintenance • 1 Year Gold Maintenance Renewal • 2 Year Gold Maintenance Extension • 2 Year Gold Maintenance Renewal Web Server Licensing: This licensing model was created because some customers use Symantec AntiVirus Scan Engine to scan files that are stored/hosted on public Web servers. Thus, there is no way to calculate the total number of “users” or nodes that might be making use of the software’s virus scanning capabilities. The Web Server licensing is per server (U.S. estimated retail price of $4995). The standard end user license agreement (EULA) includes the following details specific to the Web Server licensing: • If the licensed software is Symantec AntiVirus for Web Servers, the following additional use(s) and restriction(s) apply: - The software may only be used with files that are received from third parties through a Web server; - The software may only be used with files received from less than 10,000 unique third parties per month; and - Customer may not charge or assess a fee for use of the software for their internal business. • The license is based on the total number of protected nodes (clients and servers) in the organization regardless of the number of servers protected; • A single Media Pack includes all supported operating systems, but the part number description does not refer to individual supported operating systems; • Please refer to your region’s Symantec Price List for part numbers and pricing. Deliverables After purchasing a Value or Elite License, customers receive: • A Symantec AntiVirus for Network Attached Storage media pack (CD/documentation) from their reseller. • A License Certificate from Symantec. • 9. Electronic License File Symantec enforces the Symantec AntiVirus for Network Attached Storage license through two Electronic License Files: One for the product functionality (which is perpetual), and another for the content subscription (i.e., the ability to download the latest virus definitions). The License Certificate includes serial numbers for both License Files, as well as a URL directing customers to Symantec’s Licensing & Registration site (https://licensing.symantec.com). Customers will find instruction for registering and installing the License Files on this Web site, as well as in the product documentation. Glossary of Terms Term Definition NetApp Filer The Network Appliance line of filers are high performing network attached storage appliances. They can store both Unix and Windows type files in the native filing system of the computer attaching to it. In the case of Windows, storage on the filer looks just like storage on a native Windows OS. The user stores and retrieves files on the filer exactly the same way he/she stores and retrieves files on an NT or Win2000 server. From an administrative perspective, the filer offers simple, centralized management. This considerably reduces the load on the administrator and helps account for the popularity of the device. In addition, of course, the filer is very robust, and offers a great deal of data security. It also employs very sophisticated backup utilities. As with any operating system, Data ONTAP is subject to modification. The RPC protocol only works with Data OnTAP 6.08 or higher. ICAP ICAP in its most basic form is a "lightweight" HTTP based remote procedure call protocol. In other words, ICAP allows its clients to pass HTTP based (HTML) messages (Content) to ICAP servers for adaptation. Adaptation refers to performing the particular value added service (content manipulation, such as virus scanning) for the associated client request/response.
