PMI Pune-Deccan India Chapter Organises Seminar Managing
Project Teams Using Coaching Approach
Attendees at the seminar organised by PMI Pune-
Deccan India Chapter
PMI Pune-Deccan India Chapter held a seminar on 10 February that
explored a different approach to team management—coaching.
Personal coaching is a unique and powerful form of human interaction
where the objective is to advance the development of an individual. A
personal coach is a trained professional who understands a client’s
strengths and weaknesses. The coach is a catalyst who empowers and
supports his or her clients to reach their full potential and take their lives
to the next level.
Speaker Mandar Kulkarni, PMP, CEO of Millennium Mantra, Inc and
Education Director of PMI Silicon Valley Chapter
Speaker Mandar Kulkarni, PMP, CEO of Millennium Mantra Inc. and
Education Director of Silicon Valley Chapter presented the five skills—
listening, questioning, acknowledging, feedback and challenging—that
assist effective team interaction and deliver successful projects.
Through these skills, project managers acquire a more in-depth
understanding of his team members, learn the driving force behind each
individual, gauge their strengths and align the right resources for the
project’s requirements. When team players are motivated, they require
less supervision and produce higher success rates for projects, ultimately
leading to customer satisfaction.
New managers can use this approach in people management. Instead of
autocratic management, new managers can become true leaders who are
influential and inspire their staff’s full professional development.
Seminar presentation is available on chapter website.
