  • Welcome to an introduction to Banner 7 INB.
  • Welcome to an introduction to Banner 7.
  • On the Main Menu, the “GO” or Direct Access box is now titled the “GO TO” box.
  • “My Banner” menu is now easier to customize.
  • Links are accessible on the right. These links can be customized.
  • By setting a computer’s resolution to 1028 x 768, a large area of data is viewable and eliminates the need to scroll.
  • This is an example of a Tabbed form. Simply click on the tab to display the titled information. It’s easy to move from one element of data to another.
  • Other options or forms that relate to the current form can be displayed by clicking the OPTIONS drop down menu. This replaces the left navigation frame available in prior versions of Banner.
  • Another feature is the addition of a Mouse Right Click. As you can see, by right clicking in a non-field area on a form, the user can view all available options for that form. This includes navigation options, information options and the ability to add the viewed form to the use’rs Personal Menu, “My Banner”.
  • One feature of Banner 7 is the addition of a Drop Down menu for the List of Values of a field.
  • In Banner 6 it was necessary to click three separate options to display Academic Status, Graduation Status and Dual Degree information. Now one click reveals all three in areas clearly titled and divided.
  • Some forms now display arrow keys to move from one record to another.
  • As you can see, the toolbar has been reorganized into logical groups. Some icons will now grey out and highlight when available. The Record, Block And Query icons have been grouped together. Notice two new icons on the right – Fine Grain Access indicates that access to elements of data has been added to any given form. The Online Help icon will bring you to an SCT delivered document that is form sensitive.
  • By clicking on Online Help while viewing the SPAIDEN form, the user can view information about the functionality and purpose of this form.
  • Take a look at how to customize links in Banner 7. Simply call up the General User Preference form “GUAUPRF” by typing it in the Go To Field and hit enter.
  • Select the “My Links” option, and then type the Description and URL complete with “http://” prefix into the value fields as indicated. Logging off and and on will update the user’s Main Menu.
  • By clicking on the “Display Options” tab, the user can alter the colors of the settings by varying the R G B values. Note this user has customized the canvas color.
  • Banner is the CSUMB campus student information system. Access to the data in Banner is available to staff, faculty and student assistants who's job requires them to access and use this data. In order to use Banner a person must have permission to access the Banner servers and a person must have a Banner account. Pages 1+2 must be completed, signed and returned. Complete instructions are found on page 3 of that document. The entire document must be read. To obtain a brio account to access Banner data you must first obtain a Banner account.
