A2 Advanced Production Evaluation
Sam Leimanis
Question 4: How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
In Research
Were all used a great amount to help with our research in finding existing products and information about them to inform our pieces.
Google and Wikipedia
These helped us find existing products from which we could find codes and conventions to then base our product on.
As well as this, it also provided us with images and background information on film trailers.
Youtube
Youtube provided us with examples of existing trailers made professionally as well as amateur trailers made by other students.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikCk0u2QpuQ
In planning
Our blog contains all of our planning:
http://sspa2media.blogspot.com/
Other media we used for this would include a scanner:http://sspa2media.blogspot.com/2010/11/storyboard.html
And a stills camera for our location shots: http://sspa2media.blogspot.com/2011/01/blog-post.html#comments
In construction
InDesign, iMovie and a video camera were used.
The video camera allowed us to take higher quality footage.
InDesign
InDesign was used in the creation of the magazine cover and the poster.
iMovie
iMovie was used to create our trailer. We edited our footage on there, added title screens and effects such as the soft focus, as well as adding a soundtrack to the piece.
In evaluation
Comments on Youtube gave us feedback for our evaluation
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=vTiep6b2w5s
Throughout the project, I’ve updated a blog to keep track of my work which is again using the internet.
