  • 2. Who are we?  Small (8 full-time, 4 part-time) Software House in Southern England  Mostly ex-military  Ground-Based Air Defence (UK and Malaysia)  Counter-MANPADS (UK, US, Australia, Morocco, France…)  General Counter-Terrorism (UK, and later, The World!) CONNECT. TRANSFORM. AUTOMATE.
  • 3. What’s The Problem?  Where will a terrorist shoot from?  Where should I deploy my resources to stop him?  How do I search the area?  What help can I get from CCTV etc?  How to I tell people what’s happening?  How do I record my analysis for use later?  How do I do it faster, with less people? CONNECT. TRANSFORM. AUTOMATE.
  • 4. RAM-PRAS  Rocket and Mortar Position Ranking and Analysis System  C++ Front-end  SQL Server back-end  Esri File GDB to store mapping (Arc Engine 10.0)  Architecture has to assume worst case, so: local data, no network, classified output, locked down computer, accreditation CONNECT. TRANSFORM. AUTOMATE.
  • 5. Start with a mortar CONNECT. TRANSFORM. AUTOMATE.
  • 6. Add some Rules CONNECT. TRANSFORM. AUTOMATE.
  • 7. Add some Sensors to cover the ground CONNECT. TRANSFORM. AUTOMATE.
  • 8. What about an Active Shooter? CONNECT. TRANSFORM. AUTOMATE.
  • 9. Add some buildings to Search CONNECT. TRANSFORM. AUTOMATE.
  • 10. How to get all that to the frontline with limited bandwidth? CONNECT. TRANSFORM. AUTOMATE.  Create Raster backdrops as BMP, vectors as Shapefile and coverages as PNG  Sort and Merge using FME WorkspaceRunner  Then create a layered PDF
  • 11. And with FME Embedded in our product we might as well…  Convert incoming mapping to something Esri understands  Use it for Geo-Processing (save Esri Spatial and 3D Analyst licences)  Who knows what else in future…. We can add Workspaces to our product without recompiling and having to be re-accredited CONNECT. TRANSFORM. AUTOMATE.
