Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) The broad objectives of BEE are as under:  To exert leadership and provide policy recommendation and direction to national energy conservation and efficiency efforts and programs.  To coordinate energy efficiency and conservation policies and programs and take it to the stakeholders  To establish systems and procedures to measure, monitor and verify energy efficiency results in individual sectors as well as at a macro level.  To leverage multi-lateral and bi-lateral and private sector support in implementation of Energy Conservation Act and efficient use of energy and its conservation programs.  To demonstrate delivery of energy efficiency services as mandated in the EC bill through private-public partnerships.  To interpret, plan and manage energy conservation programs as envisaged in the Energy Conservation Act.

Role Of BEE BEE:-  The Government of India set up Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) on 1st March 2002 under the provisions of the Energy Conservation Act, 2001.  The mission of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency is to assist in developing policies and strategies with a thrust on self-regulation and market principles, within the overall framework of the Energy Conservation Act, 2001 with the primary objective of reducing energy intensity of the Indian economy.  For all this they required CEM(Certified Energy Manager) & CEA(Certified Energy Manager)

  • 12. Who can be Energy Auditor & Manager?  Graduate Engineers having relevant experience with BEE- CEA & CEM examinations passed  CEA: Certified Energy Auditors  CEM: Certified Energy Managers

National Certifications Examinations for Energy Managers & Auditors  BEE has retained National Productivity council (NPC) as the national certifying Agency to Conduct & Administer the Nations Certification Examination for CEA & CEM  Notification of examinations in the month of January in every Year  Examination in August of every year  Passed candidates can work as a Auditors & Mangers for Govt., Companies & Individually

Eligibility Criteria For CEA & CEM  Graduate Engineer with 3 years of work experience involving use of energy in operation maintenance planning etc.  Post Graduate Engineer with 3 years of work experience involving use of energy in operation maintenance planning etc.  Graduate Engineer and Post Graduate Degree in Management with 2 years of work experience involving use of energy in operation maintenance planning etc.
  • 15. Eligibility Criteria For CEA & CEM Diploma Engineer with six years of work experience. (Only for CEM) Candidates without requisites experience are not eligible to appear for the examinations
  • 16. What is CEM? CEM(Certified Energy Manager) Role & Responsibility:-  Prepare an annual activity plan and present to management concerning financially attractive investments to reduce energy costs.  Establish an energy conservation cell within the firm with management consent about the mandate and task of the cell Initiate activities to improve monitoring and process control to reduce energy costs.  Analyze equipment performance with respect to energy efficiency.  Ensure proper functioning and calibration of instrumentation required to assess level of energy consumption directly or indirectly

What is CEA CEA(Certified Energy Auditor) Role & Responsibility:- Conduct internal audit of individual equipment/system once a year  Submit copy of reports to Energy Manager with recommendation on action. Keep record of calibration status of all energy measurement instruments/devices. Maintain portable tools/instruments required for audit
