  • 22. WORKING METHOD - CAPTURE
    • Shoots with at 4x5 Sinar P2 and scans the negatives
    • He uses has used digital backs but he says that he doesn’t get a large enough file that way.
    • Digital Back = 180MB file = 24”x30” max print
    • Scanned 4x5 negative = 500MB File
  • 23. WORKING METHOD - LIGHTING
    • Mostly uses available light
    • Occasionally use reflectors
    • Rarely uses electronic flash
  • 24. WORKING METHOD – IMAGE MANIPULATION
    • Scans with no color profile
      • He says that this give him a very soft image
      • Then does all tonal adjustments in Photoshop
    • Photoshop workflow is relatively simple
      • Contrast, color, sharpening
      • Saturation and perspective Issues
      • Sometimes some reconstruction by adding or subtracting elements
    • Color is a critical part of preproduction
      • He is very conscious of the color of his model and how it relates to the environment
      • Very little color manipulation goes on in postproduction
