HCD Objectives Employ the anthropological methods of Asset Based Community Development to support the creation of Homeowners’ Associations Understand the importance of evaluation, evidence- based practice, and research in the programmatic practice of community development organizations, focusing on the Success Measures Data Management System.
  • 4. Organization Overview: Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis Founded in 1976 Non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard housing in the city of Memphis and surrounding areas, and to making decent housing for all people a matter of conscience and action. In order to evaluate the program, Habitat has implemented the Success Measures Data Management System, a tool used so that the Habitat projects can be analyzed for effectiveness and long-term sustainability
  • 5. Placement Overview Understand the role of anthropology/anthropologists in community development projects and within non-profit organizations, including but not limited to, non- profit ethics, professionalism, use of social science research methods, and presentation (both written and visual) in order to measure impact and inform change.
  • 6. Placement Overview Organize clusters of homeowners and help encourage the development of Homeowners’ Associations. Conduct data analysis through Success Measures Data Management System and prepare results summaries for two different types of surveys, 1.) Community, and 2.) Individual.
  • 7. Methods/Approaches Phone calls/Interviews Surveys (structured and unstructured) Qualitative content analysis Asset Inventory of interested neighborhoods Exploration of how Qualtrics can be used as a supplement to Success Measures.
