- Slide 1: Landforms created by rivers LO To know how v- shaped valleys and, waterfalls form. Key words: Spurs, source, v-shaped valley, waterfall, gorge
- Slide 2: Starter: • Write down 3 facts that you learned last lesson • Now compare your 3 facts with your friends • Now write down what you think is the best fact that you learned last lesson is. • Be prepared to be asked what you think this fact is.
- Slide 3: Look closely at this photo; write in your books what you think it is. It’s a V shaped valley. Did you get it? (River, hidden by rocks)
- Slide 4: Forming a V shaped Valley Vertical erosion is dominant The river cuts downwards like a saw. This happens in the upper part of the river and makes the valley go deep. Rain erodes the edges to make it wider at the top.
- Slide 5: Interlocking spurs and a V-Shaped valley Make a neat copy of the diagram in your books – you only have 8 minutes so be quick.
