  • Open chart – Problem: How to bring data from each of the a single bed rooms within the ward onto a view for that ward? Giving the patients the benefits of single occupancy rooms whilst maintaining the consolidated ward view for the nurses. Click With the trust we came up with a solution that brings together data from the various devices, in this case BBRaun infusion pumps and philips monitoring devices in an integrated approach. This feeds a dashboard that can then be placed at strategic points within the ward, such as a nurses monitoring station. If we look beyond what is being implemented here we can see some of the other possibilities this approach and technology can bring. Click We can imagine other sources of data for example devices from CareFusion or other providers feeding into the same solution. Having an integration engine means that the tool is now in place for the most efficient inclusion of these other devices. Click In the bigger picture the software opens up possibilities for bringing in data for the home. For example home testing for Blood glucose from Roche or Blood Pressure results from Omron have can also be sent into such a system. Then back within the hospital Click The data being fed through this system can as well as the dashboards be fed onto clinical applications where appropriate. Eliminating the need for entering results from one system into another. Click Data warehousing of results provides for a history of patients visits for their on benefit but also opening up the possibility for research based on the captured data. Health analytics with is also possible either looking directly at the live stream of data or reviewing the historical view of what is being held. Through this data analysis, doctors can identify danger signs and make intelligent decisions to prevent life-threatening infections. I hope to end this presentation with a short video of just such an example from some work that has been done with University of Ontario to help doctors detect subtle changes in the condition of critically ill premature babies.
