Building Your Plan for Academic Success

Welcome to the orientation for the Academic
Improvement Plan (AIP) Program.
You may be wondering what is an AIP and why
do I have to do one. This is what you will find
out during this orientation.
Let’s get started.

 The Academic Improvement Plan is a program
designed to assist students who have been
readmitted to Southeast Missouri State
University with achieving academic success
upon their readmission.

 The requirements of the AIP will be agreed upon
between the student and their assigned staff
member.
 The requirements could include but are not
limited to:
◦ Meeting with an assigned staff member
◦ Completing a learning style inventory
◦ Completing a set number of meetings
◦ Completing College Success Seminars
◦ Completing any referrals made by the assigned staff member.
 All requirements must be completed before 8
week grades.

 If the AIP requirements are not completed by
8 week grades, there is a registration hold
placed on the students account by the
Registrar’s Office which will not be lifted until
after Final grades have been submitted and
the student has earned above a 2.0 grade
point average for the semester.

 The First Step toward completing your AIP is
to attend this Orientation. You are already
half way done!
 The next step is to complete the AIP Intake
Form.
 Once your Intake Form has been reviewed the
Retention Specialist will contact you.

 This concludes the Orientation for the AIP
Program.
 You will be contacted by the Retention
Specialist, Emily Oliveira, regarding the
requirements of your AIP.
