Approximately 7,000 gallons of creosote-based wood treating DNAPL have been removed from a wood treating site in Charleston, SC. The results of this study indicates that NAPL removal does not improve the MNA potential at a site and also that due to the additional surface area of the NAPL exposed to the aquifer, additional chemicals of interest, naphthalene, are released to the aquifer.
