The US shows its interest in acquiring land from Mexico, which would later be the 28th state of Texas, in order to forward its expansion efforts.
It was at the request of the Mexican government that Anglo-American begin to preoccupy the northern portion of Mexico. The huge population of Anglo in the northern portion of Mexico led to a disillusionment of Mexican rule.
Mexico threatened war with the US if it annexed Texas.
