Also work in conjunctions with our partner Green Tourism for the UK to achieve our goals. </li></ul><ul><li>Associate engagement </li></ul><ul><li>To implement hotel based Environmental teams to ensure the environmental awareness of our workforce, encouraging every associate to act in an environmentally responsible manner and actively participate in local initiatives. </li></ul><ul><li>Continuous efficiency improvement  </li></ul><ul><li>To improve the environmental performance of our processes and systems through usage of new technologies in order to reduce the usage of electricity, gas and water more efficiently, thus optimizing our use of natural resources. </li></ul><ul><li>Waste management </li></ul><ul><li>To promote the recovery, recycling and reuse of our products and to work with our waste management partner “ACM” to achieve these measured results. </li></ul><ul><li>Targets, Monitoring & reporting  </li></ul><ul><li>Set challenging environmental targets for each property, monitor and audit performance and to report progress on a regular basis, as set out in the Green Tourism for UK operating standards. </li></ul><ul><li>Suppliers & contractors  </li></ul><ul><li>To encourage suppliers and contractors to behave with sound environment manners and where possible source ethical, fair trade and other socially responsible products. </li></ul><ul><li>Local communities & biodiversity  </li></ul><ul><li>Actively support our local communities and other interested parties on environmental issues and to respect the general environment within Greater London. </li></ul>

  12. 12. Step 6 our outside recycling area Our Compactor before 98 % land fill, now used for recycling items only. Before emptied once every 1.5 week, now every 6 weeks, everything is now recycling, savings !! Our general waste now, only one 1.100 litre bin per week, 75 KG to land fill Our new food waste disposal including primary packaging !! PDM Group, a BIO mass recycling facility, picking up the full bins twice a week.

Same procedure as before, 3 glass containers outside including marmalade jar’s Meat, Vegetables, Fruits etc. also with their original primary packaging only when food is left in the packaging. Otherwise, clean plastic in recycle, dirty in General waste Coffee powder including paper filter, Tee bags, Tetra packs with Juice only , flowers, candle wax, Housekeeping soaps only, food bin-liners, Ind. Butter portions, blue kitchen paper, no cleaning liquids blue paper towel to clean table tops with cleaning liquid, Floor sweepings, general dirt, dirty, pampers/nappies, filters, Hoover bags, sponges, cigarette buds, old rags, broken glass and china, hair spray, aerosols/deodorant, insides of pens, make up, crisp bags “non recycling”, Tip-Ex pots, used markers, balloons, broken jewellery, used cotton buds, hygiene bags, tooth picks, dirty empty bacon, meat and bags/containers and all items too solid to be recycled. Aluminium cans, non confidential papers, toilet rolls, tissue boxes, paper hand towels, news papers, magazines, plastic wrappings, books, empty plastic bottles, clean yoghurt pots, clean shampoo bottles, plastic packaging, washed out tins, small cardboard items (large pieces to Trevor), empty cleaning liquid bottles, plastic canteen cups , plastic file dividers, plastic lighters, plastic coat hangers iron coat hangers, covers from marmalade jars, Starbucks Take away cups including lids, paper napkins, coasters and lids. Latest news Our first Award : the only Marriott Hotel in the UK with the Gold award Stuart Brain GTBS grading assessor for the site said “ It is a great achievement that Portsmouth Marriott has achieved a GOLD grading on the latest version of the Green Tourism Business. The new scheme criteria are more demanding as environmental technology has improved and guest’s expectations of green businesses have increased in recent years.  I was impressed with their commitment to good environmental practise in all areas and they are exemplary in waste and energy management. It’s great to see a big hotel leading the way in its field”
