  • Cybersafety: Everyone’s Responsibility SAP Mobile Services, Mobile Operator Guide 2013 Steve Largent, President & CEO, CTIA-The Wireless Association
  • Cybersafety: Everyone’s Responsibility Imagine identifying a cyberthreat such as a virus, worm or malicious code on your company’s communications network. You know how to remove it, but you also believe that your company isn’t the only one under attack…
  • Cybersafety: Everyone’s Responsibility …As a courtesy, you’d like to alert these other parties and offer your assistance to help them protect their networks in anticipation of the virus, or help them remove it altogether. Is that the right thing to do?
  • Cybersafety: Everyone’s Responsibility Unfortunately, if you did that, you would put your company and yourself in danger of lawsuits and in violation of antitrust laws. So what needs to change?
  • Cybersafety: Everyone’s Responsibility Most people believe that the government should be doing more to tackle cyberfraud and vulnerabilities…
  • Cybersafety: Everyone’s Responsibility …They also agree on what legislation should look like and what it should achieve.
  • Cybersafety: Everyone’s Responsibility Legislation is on the cards One of the main ways legislatures are tackling this issue is through the Cyber Information Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA). It will incentivise private and public entities to share cyberthreat information. It aims to carefully balance appropriate privacy protections with immunity from lawsuits. The Cybersecurity Ecosystem Policymakers and consumers need to be educated about their role in fighting cyberthreats. The wireless industry’s ecosystem is made up of more than just operators and their networks.
  • Cybersafety: Everyone’s Responsibility Work in Progress CTIA created a cybersecurity working group in 2012 to investigate best practices, vulnerabilities and ideas for improvement. Part of this is a Cybersafety pamphlet to help consumers protect themselves. Collaboration is essential Hacker communities and the use of spyware are on the up and must be tackled. CISPA is key because it enables the private sector to leverage its own cyberdefense and coordinate activity with government entities.
  • Cybersafety: Everyone’s Responsibility Why CTIA is supporting CISPA… Steve Largent, President and CEO of CTIA - The Wireless Association
