relay servers in the relay server farm on behalf of the backend server.
Enrollment Server – required for handheld device enrollment and iOS operations
Self-Service Portal Server (EUSSP or SSP) – lets end users enroll their device in Afaria management,
and lets users view their device information and issue commands
Package server – serves Afaria application packages to devices

Controls Access to your Corporate Email
• ISAPI Filter + Exchange Power Shell
• Allow/deny access by policy:
• Always allow
• Always block
• Allow when under MDM control
• Allow by Afaria client installed
• Allow when policy delivered
• Allow when device is not compromised
• Policy for unknown devices

- 28. Access Control for Exchange
Device remediation policy - Android
Define a corrective action policy for when a device goes out of compliance
• Administrator setting disabled
• Password policy disabled
• Device compromised
• Device in blocked group
• Device not in selected group
Remediation Action
• Wipe Nitrodesk
• Send message to client (SMS or e-mail message)
© 2012 SAP AG. All rights reserved. 28
- 29. Access Control for Exchange
Device remediation policy - iOS
Define a corrective action policy for when a device goes out of compliance
• Mobile device management payload removed
• Afaria not installed
• Assigned policy not delivered
• Device hardware not encrypted
• Device compromised
• Device in blocked group
• Device not in selected group
Remediation Action:
• Remove control
• Send message to client (SMS or e-mail message)
© 2012 SAP AG. All rights reserved. 29
- 31. Scaling Considerations
Number of concurrent client sessions
Length of connections
Number of events and complexity of worklists per session
Incoming bandwidth limitations
Connection speed limitations
Instances of secure or redirected protocol
communications, such as Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
Number and size of file transfers that require encryption
© 2012 SAP AG. All rights reserved. 31
- 32. Manage Concurrent Connections
Minimize session duration
The following factors can affect session duration:
• Device response time
• Number of device configuration policies (and settings within policies)
• Connection speed
• Number of requests per second that the IIS server can process
© 2012 SAP AG. All rights reserved. 32
- 33. Calculating Concurrency
Number of connections per day per device
• Client initiated
• Server schedules
Duration of connections
• When will devices connect
Time zone considerations
Requirements for “emergency” updates
• Procedure and number of clients
© 2012 SAP AG. All rights reserved. 33
- 34. Server Scaling
Performance is bound by number of concurrent connections
• Good rule of thumb is to assume 10% concurrency
• Afaria server can handle 200 – 350 concurrent connections
• iOS provisioning server can handle 200 – 500 connections
• Corner cases must be considered
• Initial provisioning can increase peak concurrency
• Emergency or unexpected scenarios will also include peak
concurrency
