### Oct. 28 Mult And Divide Fractions

1. 1. Multiplying and Dividing Fractions Note: All of the rules for multiplying and dividing fractions that you learned in  integers must be used when working with fractions. Odd number of negativesanswer is negative Even number of negativesanswer is positive Multiply Multiply the numerator by the numerator and the denominator by  the denominator. Ex. Sometimes it is easier to simplify before multiplying then after by  canceling common factors in the numerator and denominator. Ex. If you need to multiply mixed numbers, just convert them to  improper fractions first and then multiply numerator with  numerator and denominator with denominator. Ex. 1
2. 2. 2
3. 3. Divide First change any mixed fraction to an improper fraction. Flip the fraction you are dividing by Reciprocal  1 divided by the fraction       the fraction flips (change it to it's reciprocal) Ex. Then multiply the fractions. Ex. 3
