  • 1. THE GRANGE SCHOOL & SPORTS COLLEGE Tower Road North, Warmley, Bristol BS30 8XQ Tel: 01454-862800 Fax: 01454-862801 Email: school@thegrangeschool.net Website: www.thegrangeschool.net Headteacher : Steve Cook BA (Hons) NPQH 28 May 2010 Dear Applicant Thank you for showing an interest in joining the staff of The Grange School and Sports College. Media Studies is a key element of our Creative and Media Faculty and is housed in a large multi-media suite with its own dual-purpose Apple Mac computers, (which run both Apple and Windows applications), projectors and video screens, photography facilities and film theatre. In addition an adjacent ICT Room with dual-purpose Apple Mac computers is used extensively by the Creative and Media Faculty. The faculty is supported by a technician who has extensive multi-media and photography skills and part of their role is to work with staff and students within the Media Studies Department. Media Studies at Key Stage 4 forms part of the Creative and Media Diploma which the school delivers as part of the Kingswood Partnership (five local schools and the City of Bristol College). Students specialise in either Media Studies, Art or Music within the context of the Principal Learning element of the Diploma at Levels 1 and 2. There are six groups for 2010/11 (3 in Year 10 and 3 in Year 11). At Key Stage 5 Media Studies AS/A level is taught in both Year 12 and 13 and this is a popular and successful subject with significant numbers of students opting for this subject. Media Studies teaching will form approximately 75% of the post holder’s timetable with the remainder being matched to the skills and experience of the successful candidate. We would be particularly interested in any combination of the following subject areas: • Another Creative and Media subject, e.g. Art Drama, Dance, Music • English • ICT • Mathematics The school has an extensive programme of support for Newly Qualified Teachers and bespoke training for more experienced staff. Our work as part of the Kingswood Partnership means that there are a myriad number of opportunities to work with other colleagues in this school and across the Partnership. There are always career development opportunities available through the school or via the Kingswood Partnership and a core purpose of The Grange is to provide excellent learning opportunities for its students and staff.
  • 2. The Grange School and Sports College holds the International School Award and we have links with 15 other countries, including a school in India. We put staff development and international learning opportunities at the centre of our professional development programme. If you feel you would like the opportunity to become part of our team I look forward to reading your application. Yours sincerely Steve Cook Headteacher
