Best wishes to birthday celebrant present at thePresident Tapan Rao started the meeting with a meeting, none other than our new member Rtn.report on the eradication of polio. He quoted Louis Lim.from Rotary International that “Rotary clubmembers worldwide are cautiously celebrating amajor milestone in the global effort to eradicatepolio. India, until recently an epicenter of the wildpoliovirus, has gone one year without recording anew case of the crippling, sometimesfatal, disease.” 2

Matei is French andRomanian and employed atRoland Berger StrategyConsultants. His classification is“Consultancy: Strategic Planning”. Departing from his usualprocedure, President Tapan calledupon Rtn. Matei’s fiancée, Ms.Sejin Park, to address the Club.Ms. Park advised that her fatherwas a Rotarian in Korea. Sheadded that Rtn. Matei was veryexcited about joining the Club.On a personal note, Ms. Parkwarned members not to let Rtn.Matei sing or dance, because itwould be very difficult to stophim! Next, President Tapancalled on Rtn. Matei to say a fewwords. Rtn. Matei warmlythanked members for inviting himinto the Club and added that hehoped his 4
