  • 1. Mobilise to Immunise Getting the word out about the importance of polio immunisation is a key element of the eradication effort. As community leaders, Rotarian volunteers play a crucial role in publicising the National Immunisation Days and encouraging parents to bring their children for vaccination. Photograph by Hugh Horan. Rotarians have used every possible means to promote polio immunisation, including a parade with elephants. Rotarians in polio-free countries provide posters and banners publicising immunisation days, along with small gifts for the immunised children. Photograph by Jean-Mark Giboux. Aiming for 100 per cent coverage, volunteers use loudspeakers to broadcast announcements about polio immunisation days. Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland www.thanksforlife.org
