  • Bullying results in around 4,400deaths per year. For every one ofthose of those deaths, there are atleast 100 more attempts. Cyberbulling is a high contributor tothese deaths.
  • “Cyber bullying is when a child orteenager is harassed, humiliated,embarrassed, threatened ortormented using digitaltechnology.”
  • Cyber bullying can cause victims toturn to lethal violence in school.87% of school shooters said theyhad the desire to “get back atthose who have hurt them.”
  • About 42% of children have been bulliedwhile online, and about 21% of childrenhave received disrespectful orthreatening emails.
  • Forms of cyber bullying: sendinghateful messages, sendingpornographic pictures, stealingpasswords, impersonating others,making hate websites, etc.
  • Megan Meier, 13, receivedhateful messages, viaMyspace, from a boy shemet online.
  • After being flirtatious, the boystarted to say mean things like, howthe world would be better withouther. She felt like she was rejectedand later, committed suicide. Sixweeks after her death, it wasdiscovered that the boy was awoman, 47, who lived down thestreet. She was aware of Megan’suse of antidepressant pills and ofher Myspace page.
  • Every 7 minutes, a child is bullied.We can come together to stop cyberbulling.
