• ACCOUNT MANAGER FOR THE STATE OF MONTANA I APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK WITH YOU TODAY ABOUT DISTANCE LEARNING AND VISUAL COMMUNICATIONS THANK-YOU GORDY FOR ALLOWING ME THIS OPPORTUNITY
• I WILL PROBABLY ONLY TAKE ABOUT 30 MINUTES OF YOUR TIME THIS AFTERNOON. I KNOW A LOT OF YOU IN THIS ROOM CURRENTLY HAVE VIDEO CONFERENCING PLEASE GIVE ME A SHOW OF HANDS HOW MANY EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES ARE USING VISUAL COMMUNICATIONS????? HOW MANY ARE NOT? EXAMPLES…….
• Let’s start by discussing TANDBERG’s mission. TANDBERG’s mission is to lead the industry in making business-quality visual communication accessible to everyone. “Business-quality” is very important – TANDBERG will provide only reliable, high-quality, scalable and secure video that allows educational activities to be conducted confidently. EASE OF USE AND STANDARDS BASED VIDEO SOLUTIONS 800 Colleges and Universities in the US alone as customers .
• *Configurations are not fully determined but likely to include the traditional educator design of a podium, a monitor on extended height carts in front and a monitor/cart/camera on another extended height in the back of the room. A second similar set-up will replace the dual monitors in the front of the room with a large plasma display. Another possible option could be the integration of the maestro . * Supports features like stereo audio with direct connection to the D-NAM, advanced image support 4:3 & 16:9, multisite improvements, pip and DuoVideo display changes *Includes a cabling harness to allow a degree of backward compatibility with existing installations.
• For you to be successful, you have to be where the information is, where you can make better, faster decisions. And you have to have that information quickly – be there now. Using TANDBERG to connect your classrooms with other classrooms allows you to strengthen relationships within your campus and beyond. You can build out your course offerings and add resources that would otherwise be too costly or unavailable. STRENGTHENS RELATIONSHIP: VISUAL COMMUNICATIONS LEVERAGES TEACHING RESOURCES : 2 PLACES AT ONCE – YVCC EXAMPLE - TEACHER SAFETY REMOTE CAMPUSES ENRICHES CURRICULUM - - GOVERNOR OR STATE REP TALKING TO POLITICAL SCEINCE CLASS YOU NEED TO TAKE VIDEO PAST THE CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT

I THINK SOMETIMES PEOPLE GET STUCK IN THEIR WAYS ---- THIS IS WHAT WE ARE USING THIS SYSTEM FOR. THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX VIRTUAL FEILDTRIPS
• The primary and most-leveraged applications in higher education are in the area of distance classes. There are very few universities or colleges today that do not have some form of distance delivery. Even traditionally residential only schools are beginning to put course offerings online and add video components, including streaming and archiving of lectures, in the arsenal of course delivery methods. Some universities and colleges are using videoconferencing to reach out beyond geographical barriers to connect with other communities of learners, such as the example we will mention later at Cambridge.
• In many cases, faculty are required to publish and obtain grant funding, while carrying a teaching schedule. Having video as a communication tool to connect with peers and funding institutes can be a real asset. Your institute can save a huge amount on travel budgets by using visual communication to conduct the day to day business of board meetings, staff meetings, faculty interviews, etc. Your star lecturers can even present at a conference without leaving campus!
• Everybody needs digital TV AND HD IS NOW BECOMING THE MAIN STREAM IN OUR HOMES FIELD VIEW LSU STORY THE ABILITY TO FREE UP RESOURCES TO HANDLE VIDEO CALLS – USING MANAGEMENT TOOLS THAT THE END USERS CAN HANDLE. NOT ONLY SIP BASED VIDEO, BUT DESKTOP VIDEO AND OCS.
• EVERY SCHOOL I MEET WITH AND DISCUSS VISUAL COMMUNICATIONS WITH WANTS TO CHAT ABOUT CONTENT AND HOW TO CAPTURE THE CONTENT AND MAKE IT AVAILABLE. ALSO SOME SCHOOLS ARE CHALLENGED BY THE STAFF OVER IP.
• Lance Ford is an educational technology advocate for TANDBERG. For the last seven years he has served as the technology facilitator for Howe Public Schools in Howe, Oklahoma. Lance has been a speaker for both state and national conferences on technology integration. He has presented for the Oklahoma Technology Association Conference, Missouri Distance Learning Association, Arkansas Distance Learning Association, Texas Distance Learning Association, EduComm in conjunction with InfoComm, NECC, and US Secretary of Education’s Virtual School House. Lance has been named Wal-Mart regional teacher of the year, Oklahoma Technology Administrator’s Technology Director of the Year, and the recipient of the Polaris Award for Excellence in Teaching. In 2007 Lance was recognized as an Apple Distinguished Educator, was awarded the 2008 Long Term Service Award from the Oklahoma Distance Learning Association, and received the Technology Facilitator of the Year award from the National Association for Educational Communications and Technology. Additionally, Lance received the Gold Leadership Award from the United States Distance Learning Association in the spring of 2008. As a technology trainer, Lance has had the opportunity to train over 1000 teachers from Alaska to Maine and Canada to Texas in the effective implementation of video conferencing technologies into the classroom.
