Presentation .- meteors

  1. 1. METEORS
  2. 2. METEORS
  3. 3.  Meteoroids – are solid, rocklike objects that revolve around the sun
  4. 4. Meteors- the hot, bright steak of the air expands making a track visible from the surface of the earth.
  5. 5.  Chondrules – small, colorful, grain-like spheres about the size of pin head- are found in the most common type of stone meteorite, and give that class its name: the chondrites
  6. 6. Where do meteors come from?
  7. 7.  They probably come from within our own solar system, rather than from interstellar space.  Scientist believed that meteors could have been interplanetary debris or displaced objects from the asteroid belts. – is the gap or area between the planets Mars and Jupiter where most asteroids are believed to be located.
  8. 8. Asteroid belt
  9. 9.  Meteor Shower - A meteor shower is a celestial event in which a number of meteors are observed to radiate, or originate, from one point in the night sky. These meteors are caused by streams of cosmic debris called meteoroids entering Earth's atmosphere at extremely high speeds on parallel trajectories.
