Luke 10:38 As Jesus and his disciples were on theirway, he came to a village where a woman namedMartha opened her home to him. 39 She had asister called Mary, who sat at the Lords feetlistening to what he said. 40 But Martha wasdistracted by all the preparations that had to bemade. She came to him and asked, "Lord, dont youcare that my sister has left me to do the work bymyself? Tell her to help me!“

  9. 9. 3. Urgent living affects your personality. The name Martha comes from the same root as Mara, Miriam and Maria, namely the verb (marar), meaning to be bitter. This verb comes with no less than twelve derivatives, all pretty much meaning the same thing: bitterness, bitterly, etcetera. However, inthe Hebrew experience, the concept of bitterness wasclosely akin to the idea of being strong. A bitter taste was consider a strong taste.

All your male and female servants must rest as you do. 15Remember that you were once slaves in Egypt, but the LORD your God brought you out with his strong hand and powerfularm. That is why the LORD your God has commanded you to rest on the Sabbath day.
