Class Guidelines

  1. 3. Classroom Rules <ul><li>Be seated before the bell </li></ul><ul><li>Be prepared </li></ul><ul><li>Proper classroom behavior is expected at all times </li></ul><ul><li>Follow class procedures at all times </li></ul><ul><li>Speak in the target language </li></ul>
  2. 4. Classroom Rules <ul><li>No eating, drinking or chewing of any king is allowed in class </li></ul><ul><li>All school policies in your students’ handbook apply to my class </li></ul>
  3. 5. Materials <ul><li>Notebook (no other subjects please) </li></ul><ul><li>Binder </li></ul><ul><li>Spanish dictionary </li></ul><ul><li>Use black or blue ink ONLY at all times. Pencils can be used for test or quizzes, when instructed </li></ul><ul><li>Textbook and workbook must be covered </li></ul>
  4. 6. Grading Policy <ul><li>Total point system is used. Category include tests, quizzes, oral compositions, oral presentations and class participation. </li></ul>

Class Participation <ul><li>Punctuality, preparation, behavior, following class procedures at all times: ex.: raising the hand before speaking, giving the correct answer, completing in class work, speaking in the target language, and participating in class discussions are all part of your class participation grade. </li></ul>

Class Participation <ul><li>Every other week 25 points will be credit to you for participation based in the following: </li></ul><ul><li>Participating with the correct answer & following all the above class rules and procedures </li></ul><ul><li>1 – point for: </li></ul><ul><li>Arriving late </li></ul><ul><li>Not being prepared </li></ul><ul><li>Misbehavior </li></ul><ul><li>No following class procedures </li></ul><ul><li>Any non-Spanish language in the class </li></ul><ul><li>Eating, drinking, or chewing of any kind </li></ul>

Homework <ul><li>Homework is M A N D A T O R Y </li></ul><ul><li>Homework is given everyday </li></ul><ul><li>If homework is not completed on the due date your participation will be affected </li></ul><ul><li>Homework can be collected & grade as quiz at any time, without notice </li></ul><ul><li>Homework is posted everyday on the board </li></ul><ul><li>Your number should be written on every homework assignment </li></ul>
  8. 10. Quizzes <ul><li>Quizzes grades will range from 20 to 50 points each assignment </li></ul><ul><li>Quizzes can be written or oral </li></ul><ul><li>Quizzes can be given once or twice a week </li></ul><ul><li>Your number should be written on every quiz </li></ul>

Tests <ul><li>Tests grades will range from 100 to 150 points </li></ul><ul><li>Tests are announced and given in regular basis </li></ul><ul><li>Your number should be written on every test </li></ul><ul><li>All compositions may be typed, double-spaced, font 14 </li></ul><ul><li>Work will not be accepted late </li></ul>

Attendance <ul><li>Attendance is taken everyday and posted in Genesis </li></ul><ul><li>If your are absent, it is your responsibility to make-up the work you have missed and hand your assignment in the following day after you have returned. You can also see me after class. </li></ul><ul><li>If you are absent on the day a quiz or test is given, it cannot be made up during class time. You MUST see me to make arrangements. </li></ul>
  11. 13. Extra Help <ul><li>Extra help is available promptly after school by appointment. </li></ul>

  13. 15. Consequences: <ul><li>First time: </li></ul><ul><li>Teacher speaks to student, assigns a Teacher’s detention from 2:45pm to 3:15pm; calls home. </li></ul>
  14. 16. Consequences: <ul><li>Second Time: </li></ul><ul><li>Teacher speaks to student, refers student to Subject Supervisor, calls home, student is assigned a Supervisor’s Detention from 2:45pm to 3:30pm. </li></ul>
  15. 17. Consequences: <ul><li>Third Time: </li></ul><ul><li>Teacher speaks to student, refers student to Subject Supervisor and Vice Principal and calls home. Vice Principal assigns the appropriate consequence. </li></ul>
