  • 2. MEDIA RELEASE local companies. Together, the two MoUs aims to enhance the capacity of Malaysian e-education companies, in addition to increasing global competitiveness of Malaysian Smart School companies. It is also hoped that the MoUs will lead to the innovation approach to IPTV education content development and solutions, and the co-access of the international IPTV educational content and solutions market. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Datuk Badlisham Ghazali, Chief Executive Officer of MDeC and Kim Jong-Hwan, Commercial Counsellor from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea. Speaking at the event, MDeC CEO Datuk Badlisham Ghazali said MSC Malaysia acknowledges that the South Korean companies represented here today are very much capable of enriching Korea’s IPTV e-learning initiative, particularly for programmes aimed at post-secondary and life-long learning. This experience is invaluable for MDeC as we spearhead the Integrated Content Development Taskforce (ICON) that assists the Government in generating content for the High Speed Broadband (HSBB) initiative. I am also confident that the signing of these MoUs will lead to the formulation of strategies to enhance WebTV. I believe both parties will be able to work closely together to develop IPTV e-learning content and solutions, and perhaps even become leaders in the IPTV global networks.” He added that the signing of these two MoUs compels Malaysia and South Korea to work more closely together to achieve the common goal of internationalizing IPTV for education. Each side will pursue significant activities such as sharing the market trend for educational section related to e-learning content and solution, sharing the know-how of technology for the development of IPTV e-learning content and solutions, exchanging educational content, embarking on joint projects for e-learning content, leading the international standardization and quality assurance, and collaboration in product research and development. The two MoUs are the indirect result of the signing of a MoU in 2008 between MDeC and Korea’s National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA), who both sought to collaborate on smart school programmes. Signed in conjunction with the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT), the 2008 MoU led to exchanges and Page 2 of 4 Multimedia Development Corporation Sdn. Bhd.
