  2. 2. BiographyJerry Spinelli was born on February 1st, 1941 in Norristown,Pennsylvania. He has written Stargirl, Crash, Knots in My Yo-yoString, and many others. I enjoy his books very much. Jerry became a writer at age 16, after he wrote a poem thatgot published in the newspaper. He first wanted to write adultbooks, but later chose to write for kids, when his grownup bookswere rejected by publishers. His first published children’s bookwas Space Station Seventh Grade. Again, he wanted it to be anovel for adults, but since the main character was 13, it waspublished as a kids’ book. Spinelli wrote many other books also, all of which for kids. The book Stargirl was even made into amovie in 2009. Jerry was an amazing man. He served in the Navy, married, and had six kids. He is an interesting and talented person.

  8. 8. Movie Actors Continued Archie played by Gene HackmanKevin played by Channing Tatum Dori played by Vanessa HudgensStargirl’s parents played by Diane Lane and Daniel Craig
  9. 9. Soundtrack TunesI chose this song for the part of the book where Stargirl takes Leo to herenchanted place in the desert. She tells Leo to “erase himself” and startover. That is why I chose this song for this book. “A Horse With No Name” On the first part of the journey
I was looking at all the life
There were plants and birds and rocks and things
There was sand and hills and rings
The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz
And the sky with no clouds
The heat was hot and the ground was dry
But the air was full of sound

Ive been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
Cause there aint no one for to give you no pain
La, la ...

After two days in the desert sun
My skin began to turn red
After three days in the desert fun
I was looking at a river bed
And the story it told of a river that flowed
Made me sad to think it was dead

You see Ive been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
Cause there aint no one for to give you no pain
La, la ... Etc.

  10. 10. Final RatingMy final rating forStargirl would probably be a 4 1/2 outof 5 stars. I gave it this because I really enjoyed most ofthe book, butsome parts were a little slow. I liked howwell they described the personalities and I thought thebook was really interesting, and it also shows you it isokay to be different.
