A2 Product Analysis,[object Object],Year 13: G325,[object Object]
The Brief,[object Object],I have chosen to do a promotion package for a new film, to include a teaser trailer.I have chosen to do a film magazine front cover featuring the film, along with a poster for the film along with the teaser trailer for my film. ,[object Object]
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?,[object Object],As ‘EMPIRE’ is a well known and well respected magazine production company they are able to cover some, or most, of the title with images as the viewers recognise the type face and understand that it is ‘EMPIRE’, I am un able to do the same as I am not as popular as they are, so I have to keep it in clear site so viewers get to know who and what ‘SHOWCASE’ is about. I have used typical magazine conventions, for example the rule of 3, I have used 3 main colours for my fonts which are red, white and black. The red represents blood and fear within the film, this is to relate it to the horror genre as that is what my media product is based on. ,[object Object],In relation to typical movie magazines I have followed typical conventions by having exclusive interviews with the main characters of the film, I have used puffs to show who is being interviewed, names of the actors who take part within the film and images of films that relate too the chosen genre of my product. I used all these conventions to make my media product seem as realistic as possible.,[object Object]
In ‘Sorority Row’ they have placed the title at the bottom, I have slightly mimicked this as the title on my poster is near to the bottom, this is because I felt that it stands out more along the bottom so I could place my tagline along the top, which is different to ’sorority row’ as they have placed their tagline just above their title. ‘sorority row’ has focused their image on the protagonist, which I have done the same. My reasons for using this particular image is that is shows the hero walking on his own, and the title makes viewers assume that this is his last walk home. The image also gives a sense of being followed as it is an extreme long shot, this gives a sense that you are looking through the villains eyes. I have used an effect on the image which makes the surroundings around the hero zoom in and focus on the hero as he is the main person within the film and poster. With my image it is only person in the image, whereas on ‘Sorority row’ it is a group image, this is an example of a binary opposite and the preferred opposite in this case is sorority row as you feel safer when with more than just yourself.,[object Object],I have used used typical conventions for my poster as I have labelled all creditors who helped take part within the production, editing and distribution of the film,[object Object]
Trailer analysis,[object Object],My title has not followed the typical conventions of most trailers as I have layered the title onto blood splatters for effect, I have also done thee title in bold letters which are in 2 different colours.,[object Object],The opening scene sets the location of my trailer, it follows typical horror conventions as it is set in a wooded area at night.,[object Object],Twisted stories is my production company. It begins flickering and then sets as the second image shows.,[object Object]
In this scene it shows the protagonist being followed, and using adobe elements 3.0 I gave it an effect that makes it look like a ghostly figure.,[object Object],In this scene it shows the villain unlocking the shed door, I gave it an effect in black and white which represents good and bad in society, also the black hoody represents the hegemonic model that youths in hoodies are a menace to society.,[object Object],In this scene it shows the villain has entered the shed and has pulled out a big butchers knife, it is in the same affect as the previous screen shot for the same meaning. The effect has blurred out the villains face which keeps his identity a secret so he remains unknown.,[object Object]
In this scene I gave it an effect so it begins twisted as shown in the image to the left, and then as it starts to go back to normal it begins to fade slowly.,[object Object],In this screen shot it shows the hero about to by the villain with a butchers knife, before the knife touches the hero it cuts into a white screen and then it follows into ‘the last walk home’ I cut it before the knife touched the hero to make viewers think whether or not he was cut and whether or not the hero died.,[object Object]
