  • Dual Enrollment: Who Are You? Who Do You Want to Be? How Do You Plan to Get There? Mrs. Le Roy-Kyle Orange County Public Schools Presented April 2009 for CCHS students, Orlando, FL
  • What is Dual Enrollment?
    • Attending two educational facilities at the same time, such as:
    • Your high school + the local community college
    • OR
    • Your high school + a tech center (at the same time)
  • What Are The Requirements?
    • 16 years old within first two weeks of school year (open to Juniors and Seniors)
    • On track for graduation with credits
    • 2.0 GPA
    • Attendance/Tardy record within OCPS guidelines
    • Good discipline record (No Level 4 referrals)

  • Requirements (continued)
    • ≥ 24 th percentile (9 th gr. NRT/Reading)
    • ≥ 19 th percentile (9 th gr. NRT/Math)
    • Must have passed the FCAT. Any student not passing
    • the FCAT who wishes to apply must show that the
    • required remediation in reading will be conducted
    • through the home high school.
  • Requirements (continued)
    • ≥ 24 th percentile (9 th gr. NRT/Reading) OR
    • ≥ 17 th percentile (10 th gr. NRT/Reading)
    • ≥ 19 th percentile (9 th gr. NRT/Math) OR
    • ≥ 5 th percentile (10 th gr. NRT/Math)
    • Must have passed the FCAT. Any student not passing
    • the FCAT who wishes to apply must show that the
    • required remediation in reading will be conducted
    • through the home high school.
  • How Do I Apply?
    • Pick up an application before you leave today.
    • Fill it out and return it to Guidance Counselors, Ms. Hubler or Mr. Torres, by the due date: ________ .
    • Wait to hear back from Ms. Hubler or Mr. Torres.
    • If accepted, go on the Tech Center tour.

  • When Do I Go To The Tech Center?
    • Junior and Senior years OR Senior year only
    • Monday – Friday, 1/2 days, AM or PM
    • Some programs require you to attend the summer after you graduate from HS and/or one semester after you graduate from HS to complete all certification requirements.
