  • 16. What is Tech Prep?
    • A “ Tech nical Prep aration” program that:
    • Provides students with opportunities to explore
    • areas of interest or aptitude.
    • Allows students to earn college or technical center
    • credit while still in high school.
    • Prepares students for employment a nd/or higher
    • education.
    • Provides opportunities for apprenticeships,
    • internships, and scholarships.

  • 18. How do I receive Tech Prep credit?
    • Sign a program plan
    • Complete all courses within the program pathway
    • Maintain a “C” or better in each course within the program pathway
    • Pass the assessment for the program
    • Enroll for one class (or more) at Valencia Community College within 24 months after graduating from high school

Tech Prep vs. Dual Enrollment Located on the high school campus; programs vary by campus May earn Gold Seal Vocational Scholarship May earn college or Tech Center credit through articulation agreements With VCC and OCPS Technical Centers (5) Tech Center locations Application process HS students are bused daily to the Tech Centers Over 100 programs leading to industry certification, and /or college credit Guaranteed employment upon successful completion Free while in high school 21 st century skills-based training Increases marketability

  • 21. What does Tech Prep and Dual Enrollment cost? They are F-R-E-E while you are in high school!

  • 23. 2008-2009 Tuition for Florida Colleges NOTE: College classes are usually (3) “credit hours” each, which means multiply the dollar amount x 3 to figure out how much the tuition is per class. For example, $131.58 x 3 credit hours = $394.74 per class at UCF (excluding books and other fees).
