RAMMEDETHANOL FACILITY AGGREGATE PIERS – SOIL MODIFCATION This project Auger utilized rammed aggregate piers Rig to improve the existing soils bearing capacity for a new 105 Tamping foot diameter bin. Rig The auger at the right drills a 20 inch diameter hole approximately 25 feet deep. The ramming rig on the left compacts aggregate in lif ts of approximately 18 inches. This densifies the existing soils and improves the b e a r i n g c a p a c i t y.

After the roof is constructed, t h ey j a c k t h e entire bin up a n d i n s e r t wa l l rings a section at a time. This sequence continues until the bin reaches i t ’ s f i n a l e av e height.
