Answer is No.Because of indiscriminate use of concrete and conventionalbuilding materials in urban areas ,the normal atmospherictemperature is relatively higher than areas with few buildings.CO2 emissions from such buildings add to the environmentalpollution and global warming which might result incatastrophic consequences such as: Reduction in agricultural output and global food production. Rise in the sea level in coastal plains. Alteration in ecosystem and biodiversity pattern . Prolonged flooding and copious rainfall in regions receiving abundant rainfall. 6/3/2012 11

Zero-Energy Buildings (ZEB) : In order to achieve net-zero-energyuse, building energy demand should be reduced by 60-90 % overcurrent standards and the remainder would be satisfied by on-siterenewable energy generation such as solar, wind and geothermaltechnologies.According to ,United States National Renewable EnergyLab(NREL), ZEB produces as much energy as it uses whenmeasured at the site.(Net –zero site energy building). 6/3/2012 18
