  • EMC Introduction Feb 2008 Suggested speaker notes: I think we all can see that we’re living in an information world. You’ve probably seen the IDC study from March 2007 that estimated that we’ll have six times as much information to deal with by 2010. And most of that information will be the responsibility of organizations like yours. Understandably, this is creating challenges for just about every IT shop. Not only is information growing, the environment is getting more and more complex There are entirely new sets of risks associated with managing and sharing large amounts of information. As always, IT is under pressure to do more with less, to be increasingly effective. But IT is also finding itself being asked to help their companies create new value from the information they already have.
  • But while all of our work and progress for 2003 is well and good, it’s what’s ahead that excites me because it’s the next evolution in the business we’ve been building. This next step is ILM and I’m excited about this next phase of the storage industry, so to speak, because of what it brings to customers.
  • EMC Introduction Feb 2008 Our mission is to help you get the most value possible from your information. In our view, the most effective way to do this is to deploy an information infrastructure. You can think of an information infrastructure as a complete, reliable, and efficient environment for managing your information as the strategic asset it is -- no matter what form that information takes, where it comes from, how it’s used, or where it goes. We think a well-designed information infrastructure should excel at four things: Store information in the most cost-effective and energy-efficient way possible Protect information against loss and misuse and ensure it’s always available and always secure Add intelligence to the information so that you can locate, classify, tag, access, and leverage your information … ensure it’s aligned to the service levels your business requires … enable risk management, IT operational efficiencies, and use your information to generate new value. Virtualize and automate the environment to shift the burden of managing complexity from people to software … helping you gain visibility into and control of your information infrastructure … reduce costs, streamline operations, and increase your flexibility. Store – protect – add intelligence – virtualize and automate– do all of this together and your ability to realize the inherent power of your information becomes unlimited. At the same time, you can drive out inefficiencies, reduce costs and risks associated with information management. On the right of this slide, you’ll see a list of concrete ways we work with customers to use information infrastructure to solve specific problems. Storing more efficiently. Taking their backup and archiving environments to the next level. Making information protection more effective and affordable. Securing critical information assets. Virtualizing their environment. Leveraging all their content – documents, emails, images – to create new value And creating environments that accelerate the business value of applications: Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, data warehousing and more.
  • EMC believes that Flash Drives represent game changing technology that will reinvent the storage industry. click And many industry analysts agree that EMC development and integration of Flash Drives provides a unique capability not available from any other mainstream storage array vendor.
  • Thank you – it’s an honor for me to work with you and your customers. Good luck and good selling in 2007. I know we can count on each of you to do the most you can to make 2007 an outstanding year.
