  • Development, distribution, monetization Web 2.0 created a model FOR CONSUMERS - distributing content (RSS feeds, blogs) - customizing content from multiple sources tailored to the end user (mashups) - business model for monetization (Google, Yahoo!, MSN)
  • A new model for BUSINESS - creating and publishing applications, leveraging distributed innovation - tailored to meet business process needs, using best-of-breed applications in a collaborative context (business mashups) - monetization model for business mashup applications Need - Platform (design paradigm for this applications) and a distribution and monetization model (big words over fade of above) (then enter) WebEx Connect logo
  • A couple of slides from the reworked David Knight presentation (the whitespace one) to introduce what WebEx Connect is It’s a platform with a rich services architecture and a Web 2.0 style client architecture It introduces the concept of ‘spaces’ in which the applications live It provides a rich set of APIs to allow an ecosystem to build these business mashup applications in a scalable fashion It’s free to develop on, and the individual client is free as well And most importantly, it uses ‘collaboration’ as THE CONTEXT to tie these business mashups together
  • With the Private Beta of WebEx Connect, what we’ll be delivering is the client, built on top of WebEx AIM Pro. With this client you’ll get the familiar WebEx AIM Pro IM client, as well as all the things you love about it today. The ability to see colleague availability through presence information and access to your Outlook Calendar information as well as: Group Chat File transfer capabilities Escalation to VoIP meetings Escalation to Video meetings And the ability to quickly and easily share your desktop
  • Fig 1:  Ecosystem Components….need animated build, start with client, then to AOL, then back end, then marketplace and partner pieces in a sensible order
  • WebEx along with the industry will drive demand for these business mashup apps to our existing user base and future (hint, hint) prospect base We will invest in driving leads to categories of applications to the marketplace (a reminder to the audience that we already target these buyers with our existing Centers) We will leverage our very successful Webtouch model (using the Web + touch all the way from lead targeting to closure) to drive sales of these apps Partner offerings will either be referred off the marketplace or by our sales and channel teams In some cases, we will resell certain offerings as part of the apps that we sell
  • WebEx will provide ‘web-touch’ services to enable partners to market their offers to the prospect base Placement, webinars, demos, ‘click to connect’, trials WebEx will drive leads to partner apps through the marketplace and through referrals We will offer a ‘pay per lead’ (front-end) or a ‘pay per transaction’ (back-end) model WebEx benefits are directly proportional to the number of business mashups sold and adopted More mashups, more WebEx collaborative services More mashups imply more transactions/leads Win/Win Need a closing!
