  2. 2. <ul><li>Establish electronic document and electronic information interchange between organisations involved in cargo transportation process; </li></ul><ul><li>Reduce the use of paper documents; </li></ul><ul><li>Establish one single window concept </li></ul>Project goals MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT AND COMMUNICATIONS OF THE REPUBLIC OF LATVIA

  6. 6. <ul><li>Implementation under EU funds (European regional development fund); </li></ul><ul><li>Latvian Goverment decisions: </li></ul><ul><li>– 10th August 2010, 21 project accepted, International freight logistics and port information system included in list; </li></ul><ul><li>- 19th April 2011, approved of project conception </li></ul>Next steps MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT AND COMMUNICATIONS OF THE REPUBLIC OF LATVIA
  7. 7. <ul><li>Practical implementation starting from 2012; </li></ul><ul><li>Elaboration of technical specifications; </li></ul><ul><li>Detailed plans and actions will be establish </li></ul>Practical implementation MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT AND COMMUNICATIONS OF THE REPUBLIC OF LATVIA
  8. 8. <ul><li>T he EU is focusing on usage of modern technologies in the transport sector - t he Intelligent Transport System Action Pan (ITS Action Plan), the e-Freight, e-Maritime, the e-Customs initiatives </li></ul><ul><li>Latvia welcomes the implementation of these initiatives ; nevertheless we think that they are implemented too slowly ; </li></ul><ul><li>Latvia invite s the Commission to present the future vision for the implementation and correlation between modern information based initiatives, such as e-Freight, e-maritime, SafeSeanet and e-Customs . </li></ul>EU level MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT AND COMMUNICATIONS OF THE REPUBLIC OF LATVIA
