Aphrodite- Goddess of love and beauty. </li></ul><ul><li>Apollo- God of music, healing, plague, poetry, and archery. </li></ul><ul><li>Ares- God of war, bloodlust, violence, and civil order. </li></ul><ul><li>Artemis- Virgin goddess of a hunt, wilderness, wild animals, childbirth and plague. </li></ul><ul><li>Demeter- Goddess of fertility, agriculture, horticulture, grain, harvest. </li></ul><ul><li>Dionysus- God of wine, parties, festivals, madness, etc. </li></ul><ul><li>Hades- King of the Underworld </li></ul><ul><li>7. Hera- Queen of marriage, kings, empires, women and childbirth. </li></ul><ul><li>8. Hermes- God of travel, messengers, trade, athletic, language, writing and diplomacy. </li></ul><ul><li>9. Hephaestus- Cripple god of fire, metalworking, stonemasonry, sculpture, and volcanism. </li></ul><ul><li>10. Hestia- Virgin goddess of hearth, home and cooking. </li></ul><ul><li>11. Persephone- Queen of the Underworld. </li></ul><ul><li>12. Poseidon- God of sea, rivers, drought, storms, floods, earthquakes and horses. </li></ul>

The Titans <ul><li>They were called the “elder gods” </li></ul><ul><li>Gaia, or Earth, gave birth to seven Titans and seven Titanesses </li></ul><ul><li>They were giants shaped like humans </li></ul><ul><li>They later overthrew their father, Uranus </li></ul><ul><li>Cronus became the new ruler </li></ul><ul><li>Most of the Titans were banished to Tartarus </li></ul>
  12. 12. Zeus <ul><li>King of the Greek Gods </li></ul><ul><li>Ruler of Mount Olympus </li></ul><ul><li>God of weather, thunder, storm, sky, law and fate </li></ul><ul><li>Overthrew his father, Cronus </li></ul><ul><li>Married his sister, Hera and had many children </li></ul>

Clothing <ul><li>Wear simple tunics made of fine wool or linen </li></ul><ul><li>Men wear toga and wear a belt or girdle at the waist </li></ul><ul><li>Women wear ankle length chitons </li></ul><ul><li>During cold winter, they both worer thick cloaks called himations to keep warm </li></ul>
