WIDGET MARKETING AS A TREND
In the goal to compete with the race of making user friendly websites and programs,
internet marketers use different ways to make their sites more interesting and easier
to use, and also easier to promote products. A good example of this is the trend of using
widgets on websites.
Widgets are those tiny icons and mini programs you see on websites. I am
sure you are familiar with flickr, playlists, blogcatalog, webchat, games, funwidget and
many more. Every day more widgets appear that you can place on your site.
When widgets were first introduced they quickly appeared on blogs. We all
know that every blog uses wordpress which requires widgets on its sidebar. Its use is to
show calendar, archive, blogger profile and adsense. Nowadays, many website uses
widgets. The widgets trend is coming.
To be honest I disregarded the use of widgets for quite a while, seeming them only as a
\"nice\" gimmick to put on a site, however my mind has changed!
Here are some reasons why:
1.) New creative widgets are now available
From simple widgets offered before, more creative ones are being given to users for free.
Like flickr the picture sharing site - once you have pictures on flickr you can easily
integrate into your website, with one or two pieces of code.
2.) It provides me what I need.
Since I write a lot of articles, instead of posting each one on my website I can install a
widget which will automatically display my articles, this can be seen on my website

3.) Interactivity
Some widgets can provide a more interactive experience on a website, for example a
chat box, others can show relevant products from merchants for example amazon where
you can make commissions.

4.) Widgets can be customized
When widgets first came out all widgets looked similar, there was not much
differentiation. Many of the widget available on sites today allows us to fully customise
them so they fit better into our site design

Here's what widget marketer realize, every widget that they give for free
