BARIATRIC SURGERY
 Bariatric surgery, is a weight loss surgery performed to treat
morbid obesity by modification of the gastrointestinal tract to
reduce nutrient intake and/ or absorption.

Types of Bariatric Surgery

 Predominantly restrictive
 Predominantly malabsorptive
 Both restrictive as well as malabsorbtive procedures (Kulick et
al, 2010).
