Name of Institution Future of Communication studies• Mass media is a collective term given to various means of communication that reach to a large section of society.• Broadly we can classify the mass media into Print and Electronic.• For journalism, we use all forms of mass media. So, the mass media are vehicles of journalism through which we reach a large number of people effectively.• In the present context media is used as ‘infotainment’ and also as ‘edutainment’. That is MEDIA provides information as well as entertainment and also educates along with entertainment.• With the advent of New Age Media, that is, mobile and internet the world has become a global village. 2

Name of Institution Future of Communication studies• Communication is happening at a faster pace across the world.• A large number of television channels and FM stations are coming up which is demanding huge manpower in this sector.• Public relations and advertising has become a part of communication studies.• Management schools, engineering colleges and government and private universities of general courses are including Communication studies in their curriculum.• Lot of research work is going on in various national and international universities in the field of communication studies. 3

It has changed the taste and preferences of the viewers.• The concept of consumerism emerged with the developments and the innovations in the various mediums of communication.• In the present day scenario Communication study is considered to be one of the professional courses.• In the national and international level a huge number of population are absorbed in the communication field. Therefore, the unemployment problem is also solved to some extent.• Communication studies are getting due recognition. 4

The trends the Indian press is witnessing today are bound to gather strength, while some others are bound to emerge 7
