  • 1. A2 Psychology Tracking Your Progress 1 Name: Year Group: Teacher:
  • 2. Psychology: Tracking Your Progress Target Grade Challenge Grade How to use this booklet Over the course of your A Level you will be completing a number of essays and assessments which will inform us of the progress you are making. The booklet is split into 2 sections to help you record and track how you are doing. Section 1: Essays – Page 4 This is for tracking any essays your complete either in class or for homework. Your teacher may set you a number of 12 mark essay questions for you to complete at home. They might also set you timed essays in class. Once these have been marked you should receive your essays back along with written feedback. This feedback should include your strengths and targets for improvements. You should record the essay title, the date you received your feedback, the grade you received, the essay title and your targets in this section of the booklet. You should then improve your essay in a different colour in line with your targets. Once improved you should record/summarise what you have done to improve your essay. Your essay should be hole punched and attached to the booklet using a treasury tag. Section 2: Mock’s and Assessments – Page 15 You must also complete a mock assessment after you have completed each unit. This will inform the grade your teacher predicts you will realistically get at the end of the year. After your mock has been marked it will be returned to you with the mark and grade. Your teacher will then give you time in class to improve this in a different colour using the mark scheme. This should be recorded in section 2 in a similar way to your essays. Your mock should be hole punched and attached to the booklet using a treasury tag. 2 NB. Your teacher may give you directed time in lessons to make improvements to your work, however if they don’t it is your responsibility to ensure you make these improvements in your own time and update your booklet accordingly. These booklets should be brought along to every Psychology lesson and will be checked by your teacher regularly.
  • 3. Psychology: Tracking Your Progress 3 How to use this booklet continued… Section 3: Practicals - Page 20 As part of the Edexcel AS course you must complete a number of practical investigations yourself. These should be written up as reports. Your teacher will guide you on how to write these up. You will get asked questions about your practicals in your exam so it is important to write these up properly and keep them safe. Hand your reports in to your teacher and make any recommended improvements. Record your practicals in this section as you complete them and attach them to this booklet using a treasury tag. Section 4: Intervention – Page 23 If you are underperforming and failing to meet your target grade your teacher will have a chat with you about putting some intervention in place. This should be additional support to help you get to your target grade. During the chat you should be honest by telling your teacher what you are struggling with and by suggesting ideas that might help you. This intervention will be recorded in section 4. NB. Your teacher may give you directed time in lessons to make improvements to your work, however if they don’t it is your responsibility to ensure you make these improvements in your own time and update your booklet accordingly. These booklets should be brought along to every Psychology lesson and will be checked by your teacher regularly.
