Boundaries issues in Counselling  Boundaries are set out the duty of care therapist have towards their clients.  Clients should expect their therapist to act in their best interest at all times.  A therapist must ensure that a high level of trust exist between themselves and their clients.
  3. 3. So what are the boundaries ?  Boundaries are agreed limits within which the psychological safety of the client is ensured.  Those protect not only the client but also the therapist.
  4. 4. Boundaries list  Sexual relationships between client and therapist,  Confidentiality,  Limits of own skills,  Client resistance,  Practitioner resistance,  Professionalism.

Task P5 tips  In order to achieve you P5, you will carry on from the presentation which you created for your P4.  You will need first to explain what are boundaries and how those apply in counselling/helping relationships.  You will need then need to explain the following boundaries:  Sexual relationships between client and therapist,  Confidentiality,  Limits of own skills,  Client resistance,  Practitioner resistance,  Professionalism.
